That Big Sun Cushion I Tried for My Face

Okay, so I was looking for something to slap on my face quickly before heading out, you know, that sunscreen that comes in a compact like makeup. I kept seeing this thing called a ‘tone-up sun cushion’ everywhere and it sounded like exactly what I needed. Easier than a sticky cream, supposedly. I ended up seeing a lot about this ‘Elueu Pang Pang Big Sun Cushion’ and a friend mentioned it too, saying it seemed pretty good.

Getting it wasn’t too hard, I just searched for ‘Elueu Pang Pang Big Sun Cushion’ on Naver, and yeah, tons of results popped up. No need for me to link it, I feel like that’s just asking for trouble and makes it look like an ad. The price was around 33,000 won for a set, which seemed okay, especially since it came with a refill. I figured that was better than paying for one cushion and then having to buy another one right away. Some of the online shops were even doing buy-one-get-one deals on similar cushion refills, like for that Laneige Neo Cushion, so it feels like a pretty standard thing to get a refill.

Putting it on was… interesting. It definitely brightened up my skin tone, which is what ‘tone-up’ means, I guess. It wasn’t exactly a natural look at first, maybe a bit too white? Like, if you’re just trying to run to the convenience store or something, it might be a little much. But it was fast. I didn’t have to rub it in like a regular sunscreen. It just patted on. I thought about how annoying it would be if I had to keep reapplying a regular sunscreen when I’m out and about, especially with how hot it’s been. This cushion thing felt like a good middle ground between makeup and actual sun protection.

I did notice that after wearing a mask for a while, the parts of my face that were exposed looked noticeably brighter than the parts under the mask. Which is kind of the point, I suppose, to prevent tanning unevenly. But it also made me think about how sometimes you need to be careful with tone-up products because they can look a bit unnatural if the color match isn’t right. I saw some people comparing it to other sun pacts, like the Dalba Waterful Sun Cushion, and I wonder if those are more natural-looking or if they have a different texture. This one felt a little drying after a few hours, not super dewy like some of the other cushion foundations I’ve tried, but it’s a sunscreen cushion, so maybe that’s expected. It’s not supposed to be full-on makeup, right?

I’m still not entirely sure if this is the best thing to use every single day. It’s convenient, for sure, and it does seem to block the sun. But the tone-up effect is quite strong, so for days when I don’t want to look like I’m wearing makeup at all, I might stick to a regular sunscreen. Or maybe try a different brand’s tone-up cushion next time, to see if the color is more subtle. It’s one of those things where you figure out what works for you through trial and error, I guess. For now, it’s my go-to for quick errands when I don’t want to spend time rubbing in sunscreen.
