I saw this mist serum being recommended everywhere, not just on those quick social media clips but also on some blogs talking about skincare routines. Honestly, I was a bit skeptical at first. It sounded like just another fancy toner, and I already had a bunch of those piling up.
My usual routine involves a toner and then a serum, but the idea of a mist appealed to me because it felt like it would be quicker. Especially in the morning, when I’m rushing, spending time patting in liquid feels like a waste of precious minutes. I picked up one from a local brand, Tosowoong, because I’d heard their toners were pretty decent and figured their mist serum might be okay too. It wasn’t super expensive, maybe around 15,000 won, which felt reasonable for something new.
The first few times I used it, it felt… nice. It was refreshing, definitely added a layer of moisture, and it sank in really fast. I thought, okay, maybe this is something. It made my skin feel a little plumper, and my makeup seemed to go on a bit smoother. I was using it right after washing my face, before anything else, like a first step hydration boost. It was also handy when my face felt dry midday, just a quick spritz. I’d seen some people online saying they used it even over makeup, but I hadn’t really tried that yet.
But then, after a week or so, I started noticing something. It was that feeling of my skin being just a little bit tight later on. Not dramatically so, but enough that I’d notice myself wanting to slap on some thicker cream sooner than usual. It was like the initial moisture from the mist would disappear, and my skin would crave something more substantial. It made me wonder if it was actually doing much for my skin barrier, which is something I’ve been trying to focus on improving. I kept thinking about that article I saw about how some cosmetic ads can be misleading, even the AI-recommended ones, and it made me a bit paranoid.
I compared it in my head to my usual toner. My old toner, which is just a basic hydrating one, felt like it prepped my skin better for the actual serum that followed. This mist serum, while convenient, felt like it was trying to be two things at once – a toner and a serum – and maybe not excelling at either. The convenience factor is huge, especially when I’m traveling and want to pack light, or when I’m at the gym and want something quick. But for my daily, at-home routine, I started questioning if it was enough. I even considered grabbing a sheet mask to layer on top after misting, just to get that extra hydration boost, which kind of defeats the purpose of a quick mist, doesn’t it?
I’m still using it, but less enthusiastically. Maybe it’s better suited for someone with oilier skin, or maybe I just need a richer serum after it than I’ve been using. Or perhaps it’s just one of those products that sounds great in theory but isn’t quite the game-changer it’s made out to be. It’s definitely not a bad product, and the refreshing feeling is great, but I’m not sure it’s the miracle worker for skin barrier support I was hoping for.
